Last week’s debate on whether to introduce a fat tax was a testament to the enthusiasm of our newest members, as strong speeches from both sides of the table made for a thrilling evening. The proposition managed to persuade the house in favour of a tax, due in part to a well applied definition. Special congratulations go to Oliver Hartland (2nd Prop) as best speaker.
Next week, we’ll be debating the motion This House Believes Pornography Empowers Women. This debate hinges on a robust argument of whether pornography empowers or objectifies women through its voyeuristic, intimate, and self-gratifying nature. If you’re interested in speaking let us know!
